Alissa was away in Duluth for Graduate School on Friday & Saturday and she is doing important voting out the get stuff today so I've been on my own with the puppy for most of the weekend. Yesterday, I broke down and bought two things: the Bret Hart autobiography (Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling) and a Nintendo DS with some games. I tend to be a late adaptor of technology -- we got a Tivo this year, I bought in PS2 in 2004 and I still file my taxes on papyrus. The Bret Hart book was an impulse buy at Barnes & Noble (though it's been spectactular so far - I haven't been this captivated since the first Foley book). However, the Nintendo DS was something that I've been discussing with Alissa for awhile. In particular, I wanted the Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior series of games which have been released - especially the latest: Dragon Quest IV. For some reason I thought it was a new game instead of the remake of the NES classic (probably the best game ever made for the original Nintendo). However, it's still fun - especially as a remake because they improved some control issues and I know where to go and what to do. I also bought two Brain enhancing games: Brain Age 2 and Big Brain Academy (together they were only $20). I bought one other game that I saw online when I started researching used DS prices which was "My Japanese Coach" ($30). I'm not very good at languages (can't say that I'm very good in either German or Twi) but I definately have an interest in them and believe that if I might still be able to learn yet. I've thought a lot about buying Rosetta Stone software - I tried out a sampler CD with Arabic and was impressed. For me, it's really a time-committment thing so I like that the Nintendo DS is a good way that I can study this while on the go and without using a whole laptop shibang. Anyone have any particularly good DS game suggestions? Rock.
